How Bin Donated Works

THE BIN DONATED BARREL

It all starts here.  Bin Donated donation barrels are placed in various locations throughout the greater Chicago area. Our donation drives can be a single event or span several days. Each placement is made possible by contributions from our donors and sponsors. Bin Donated barrels are branded to recognize the contribution of these donors and sponsors because without their support, we would not be able to further develop an open, convenient and effective climate for charitable giving. Bin Donated barrels are donated by food processing companies. These barrels are ideal for collection of food and other essential items. Each barrel can hold 200 to 300 pounds of donations at one time.

What we collect.

We use 55-gallon plastic barrels to collect a different item or group of items each month. Each calendar quarter will have at least one month dedicated to food and one month dedicated to toiletries (primarily travel size shampoo, conditioner and soap you get from hotels). The 3rd month in the quarter will be used for specialty items like winter jackets, toys for the holidays, books, etc. Below is a list of upcoming items we will be collecting for the homeless, the temporarily displaced, the disadvantaged, and those seeking shelter from abuse.

  • February - New and Gently Used Books
  • March- Basic Needs: Food and Hygiene
  • April - Dental Hygiene
  • May - Pet Supplies
  • June - Basic Needs: Food and Hygiene
  • July - School supplies
  • August - Dental Hygiene
  • September - New and Gently Used Books
  • October - Winter Coats, Hats, Gloves and Mittens
  • November - Basic Needs: Food and Hygiene
