Sustainability

Global Warming, job loss and poor economic conditions have put a tremendous strain on the world's economy and the social safety nets that helps those who need it most. Bin Donated was founded at the height of the Great Recession to save other charities money by making it easier for individuals and corporations to donate in-kind items to their favorite charities. Sustainability means improving the quality of human life while living within the carrying capacity of the Earth's supporting eco-systems. Bin Donated's pioneering collection and distribution process maximizes sustainability efforts by focusing on the Planet, People and Profits within the Chicagoland area. Follow the 3 examples below  to see how Bin Donated has made Sustainability easy.

Planet -
Barrels: Our blue collection barrels are repurposed candy syrup containers
Hygiene: Travel size hygiene products are collected from hotels and not just thrown away
Books: Donated books are redistributed or recycled depending on their condition

People -
Barrels: Each blue barrel can hold 200+ lbs of donated food feeding dozens of families
Hygiene: Every shampoo, conditioner and lotion is an opportunity to get clean and start fresh
Books: A good book opens up new worlds of imagination and opportunities for learning

Profits -
Barrels: Every barrel that is donated saves the donating company money in disposal costs improving their bottom line
Hygiene: Donated hygiene products can qualify for tax deductions
Books: Every donated book is one less that has to be bought by another nonprofit organization

Bin Donated relies on the donations of individuals and its partnerships with corporations through their Corporate Social Responsibility and Foundations for funding.
